I have a 1947 00-17
I had to change the tuning machine plastics and bridge string pegs because they were so brittle and falling off.
Now it's in mint condition and it plays beautifully. When I got it from an uncle of mine 2 years ago, it even had the original strings on it and there is no neck warp whatsoever!
Amazing construction. I wonder how much it would go for...

I have one of these, a 1944 model. It doesn't have ferrules/washers on the tuning machines because of the metal shortage, and it has a ebony truss rod as well, same reason. It sounds like the bells of heaven. I use light strings only, and no complaints about the "brittle" mahogany sound. These strings probably help out in that regard.

$1625 more than you expected? But hat was the selling price? I have the same model from 1955. Runnin' La Bella Silk & Steel strings; fabulous sound (but no, I ain't sellin'); had it since I was 12 or so... think I bought it for $50...

You did well - here I can buy one of these for less than $1000. Let's not forget a 00-17 has a mahogany top, not spruce, so the sound is rather brittle.
A 15$ Wal-Mart webcam, can't you tell?

It sold for 1625.00. More than I expected, I was very happy, but it was a nice vintage Martin and they are priceless!

1,625 for a 1952 00 and OHSC? In my opinion I would say that guitar could go for at least 5,000-7,000. I would kill a person for that guitar.
