  • hey Jim, can you just pick up your guitar and play all these songs if you don't practice them for awhile? say you haven't played West coast Blues for some time; does it take a few practice sessions to get it back down, or do you just have it in the memory bank?

  • @bucksofbourbon Hi, A great question. Like most musicians, I've got a core list of of about 30 songs that I play in public. I play parts of these most days, so they are spot on and automatic. I've moved away from ragtime in public performance a little, and so it makes up about 25% of the core list. All the other ragtime songs learned over the past 40 years or so are still in there (somewhere), and it generally takes a week or so playing it every day to bring it up to speed. Hope that helps. Jim

  • DO CARALHO, EH FODA.... JIM BRUCE... VC MANDA MTOOOOOOOOO BEMM.. EU SOU SEU FÃAA... E SOU SEU ALUNO...

  • @byanooo Ditto ...

  • I still wish you were my neighbors lol. I'd bring youa glass of Lemonade... Looks like a Martin to me,??. but maybe with heavier gauge strings. Personally I find the Martin's a little too "top end" sounding but that that is just my opinon of course. What ever you're playing sounds great to me.

  • @wildredone Hi - thanks for you message. I remember that guitar well. It was a Yamaha I bought about 200 dollars some years ago. I play pretty hard - the neck pulled away from the body after a while. The strings were lights. I think expensive guitars are over rated - Muddy Waters said ' give me any guitar and I'll make you cry '

    Cheers

    Jim
