This is a video for my communications lesson on how the media effects our look and feel of our self body image.

I claim no right for the use of the soundtrack as it is, "Ugly by Sugababes" - my only purpose of the use of it is to help suppourt my video and the message i am trying to give.

  • this isnt because of the media. it is because of anorexia. stop blaming the media for all of this. if anything the media is doing a good thing for the most part. showing people what a healthy body is. The media puts these pictures out to help with anorexia, not to say they look good. If you have anorexia it is because you have the disorder, not because you watched tv or looked at a swimsuit commercial. the ideal wight for me, i am 17, and 69 inches, is 151 lb, for a girl exactly same it is 143lb

  • @spartin11786 It is the representations of skinny celebs in the media with the 'perfect body' that causes anorexia in the first place! People get obsessed with how they look and it causes them to feel that they are never perfect, despite when they are perfect. Its a mental issue that causes this illness and the ideal body image in the media promotes this.

  • I think that more overweight people should take a stand in this world! Big girls are beautiful!!! Beauty is on the inside, not the outside. That will always be my belief. Thank you for making this vid!

  • Your belief is always going to be correct, its just a case of people instantly judging someone on their appearence - its human nature. Its only the decent people that break that barrier and identify the real person inside. It was a pleasure to make this video for people like you to respect it, thankyou for your views and comments.

  • A friend of mine once told me that I needed to lose weight just because I could pinch an inch on my back. I only weighed between 120 - 125 at the time and she was telling me to lose weight because it meant I was getting fat.

I blinked at her and ate a candy bar.

  • I love this video and message, but 1:23??? O_O That is beyond just 'curves' and is downright unhealthy. I respect bigger women and think its important to be comfortable with your image, but its also important to make sure you're in a healthy weight range. This is different for all women, as there are many factors that weigh in such as age, height, hip and waist circumference, etc. There is no such thing as a universal perfect body but we must strive to get within our own personal healthy weight.
