@icupix Don't know about "not dumb" and moving away deliberately. I used to work on offshore oil rigs in here in Scotland and we gota lot of exhausted birds settling on our platforms after a storm. If they are in a wind that is faster tahn they can fly, all they need to do is get blown a lttle off the land and that's it.

Holy macrel! That was a ton of birds - you must have had the only chow in town. They were almost all females (Costa's?, Black-chinned? not sure) - the one male I saw looked like a Black-Chinned. There was suprisingly little fighting for such normally agressive little birds. Great show - thanks for posting!

They are not dumb. They know when to move away from a storm area unlike some people. They are beautiful though. =)
