  • Any idea what it might have been used for?

  • Hello ReielSC, Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm sorry that I did not mention in the video how the gear may have been used. I think that this gear was likely part of a machine called a zakuri. Zakuri were used in the silk production industry to hold and turn special bobbins called itomaki. The machines were typically made entirely of wood and featured several wooden gears like this. I hope that this helps. -Kurt :-)

  • Probably an old japanese sex toy.

  • Nice, really high quality. I would say its of higher quality and more precisely cut teeth than some of the low-end products in the market today.

  • Matthias probably built a time machine out of wood and left a couple gears when he left

  • @xXStupidHurtsXx if it wasn't, an ignorant methfaced redneck wigger such as urself would just shove it up ur ass anyway, right??

  • wood fetish?

  • If it's a wonderful conversation piece, how come that's all you had to about it: "it's made from a wonderful piece of..." What? Pine, Cedar, Mahogany??? "...wood." :0

  • LUCKY!!! I would love one of those. i have always liked gears but since watching gear video's on youtube i think im getting hooked!

  • Thanks for the response, glad to learn what a Zakuri was. As far as I knew, the Japanese didn't even make silk. Thanks for that little tidbit of information, theoldtokaido! :D
