Hilary Hahn made her German debut in March 1995, at the age of 15, with Lorin Maazel an the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, playing the violin concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven.
Unfortunately I don't have the beginning of the concert.

When I taped this in 1995 I missed the beginnning of the concert. I'm sorry, but I don't have the whole first movement.

  • its scary how good she is, at 15 ._.

  • Stunning.

Look at the expression on the violinists' faces during her cadenza...they themselves are nothing to sneeze at...yet they look like they're all sitting there thinking, "FML!"

  • her poise and elegance is pretty incredible for a 15 year old....

  • Amazing!

Among the others violinists of today she has something personnal and here she was just 15!playing even better than everybody else!

  • @hbgfefe Dude. She's fucking 15. You can't compare her to itzhak Perlman. It's not even fair. Now she's thirty-one, and I dare say she might be better than Perlman.

  • Ahhhhhh! Cringe at 5:42! Lol I'm kidding, that was her only noticeable (however you spell that word) mistake. She's amazing.

  • Thank you for warming my heart with your divine gift.

  • hypnotic

  • @hbgfefe It seems you immediately negated what you said in your other comment! Hahn has that effect. Sure, I admire Perlman's abilities and enjoy his musical idiosyncracies; perhaps his life experience lends a certain 'authority' to his musicianship. However, I happen to respond most to Hahn's more literal interpretation and nicely gutteral delivery. She has sustained her gift well beyond the 'child prodigy' label and her Bach and Beethoven is irreplaceable.

  • @mariusfelix i think expression is the most important thing in music. It is the difference between only notes and real music. and of course "good" expression is very subjective - but I can't really belief that you can imagine a music without expression

  • @hbgfefe "Expression" is nothing but a far too often used word with no meaning...."better expression" is even worse...I don't like the word "better" either, it doesn't correlate with music...

  • I really LOVE this concert. It is the best violine-concert existing ;) really amazing!!!
