In this video, we visit the Kehlsteinhaus or the "Eagle's Nest" which is known as Hitler's Summer House, just outside Berchtesgaden.

The house is 1,834m (6,017ft) above sea level and the views over the valley are incredible. When the clouds aren't covering, it can be nice and warm, but when the clouds cover, it can get rather nippy.

It is worth pointing out that Hitler had a specific teahouse built for him, which sits just below the Mooslahnerkopf hill.

"The so-called Eagles Nest is often called "Hitler's Tea House," but this is technically incorrect. Hitler did not treat the Kehlsteinhaus as a tea house, and the location he visited daily for afternoon tea was actually the Mooslahnerkopf Teehaus" - http://www.thirdreichruins.com/gutsho...

Very cool. My dad traveled to Germany about 15 years ago and he talked about visiting the Eagle's Nest along with many other sites in Germany, and he said he really enjoyed it all. I hope to visit there sometime as well.

Thank you! It is a very popular place and quite a unique place at that. The feeling you get when you are above the clouds is incredible. And when you see the clouds just roll across right in front of your very eyes... I enjoyed my time at the Eagle's Nest too. Many thanks.

Really, really very little about the Eagle's nest. much more about the trip up.

My intention wasn't to give a guided tour of the house, but to give an overview of what people can expect to see. My video mainly shows the spectacular views over Bavaria.

It was not Hitler's summer home. The Eagles nest was a tea room gift for Hitler's 50t birthday. He rarely went up there because he was afraid of heights. Hitler's private home ruins The Berghof are lower down on the same mountain. He spent a third of the war there. How can you visit somewhere and know so little about it!

I have been there and I managed to find out the history of the place. In fact I stayed in the Hotel Zum Turken ..... some just some 50 meters from the ruins of Hitler's Berghof which had been a SS barrarcks during the war.
