  • Twotontessie, your comment about money shows that you don't really understand the roots of this band. Sure money is nice, but that was NOT their driving force at all.

  • legaldead, your profile shows you are 24 years old, so you are commenting on a band you have never seen live. I doubt that you know very much about the band or the scene..at the end it WAS about money more than anything. The shows were pretty much awful at the end..the band knew it, but what could they do..financial obligations needed met and the only means of "making rain" was to get the show on the road..didn't matter if Jerry was well or not..just as long as they could keep him propped up.

  • Jer at the bitter end...Sort of sad.

  • More than sort of sad...it was downright awful at times. Anyone that was at the shows in Birmingham on Spring Tour saw just how bad it could get...at his best Jerry was sloppy and forgetful...at his worst he was just totally uninterested. IMHO the last time Ol' Jer seemed to be having any real fun with the boys was Fall Tour 1991.

  • so not true...garcia had moments of inspiration up untill the very end. Spring tour 95 was a good tour, tampa was a great show. There were shows in 93 and 94 that were also outstanding. 1993 is one of my favorite years and they still had "it".

  • This barn burner of a tour had several 6 song first sets...and even a 5 song opener at The Omni on 3/27. In Birmingham Jerry left the stage midway through Terrapin (after forgetting most of the words, even though he had a teleprompter 4 feet in front of him). Lets not forget the fantastic songs like "If the Shoe Fits" and "Childhood's End", just to name a few, which were making appearances on a regular basis by that time. Even the rest of the band seemed to be mired in Jerry's muddiness.

  • its heart breaking too see how bad of shape Jerry was in. He basically isnt even playing on this. The man gave his life to his music and the well-being of others. great piece of Grateful Dead history. id still take ANY '95 show over ANY so-called Dead show now. Jerry Garcia was the Grateful Dead.

  • I was at this show, gave a miracle to a hottie Dead Head girl who made the whole night! Show was amazing. drum circle during intermission was insano!!! I almost lost my mind. If you love(d) the Dead it really didn't matter whether they were on or off, because as long as they went ON, then it was ALL Good!!!

  • Why so negitive? " If U get confused, LISTEN TO THEMUSIC PLAY!!"

  • @midnightjam it was and always was about the music man. not the money, sorry i just dissagree.

  • You can definitely tell Jerry isn't well.

  • @saladstassio she come runnin and we ball all night...

  • loose lucy!

  • I think the dead's fans loved Jerry and supported him, I don't think they had any negative pull on him.

  • sometimes I feel like it was all of us who led Jerry to his ultimate fate

    idk

  • It is sad to watch. On the one hand being in a room with Jerry was good enough but then you look at some of the vids from the 70's and its just heartbreaking to see the decline in his playing. To me that is what is excruciatingly sad. He did not go out on top of his game but he deserved to, and that is a shame.
