Urfaust - Vom Geist Der Schwere

Here we have Urfaust's "Vom Geist Der Schwere", the A-Side of the Split Record done with The Ruins Of Beverast. This band hails from Asten, North Brabant, Netherlands, with their formation beginning in 2003. They have been described in many ways under the Black Metal genre as "Atmospheric", "Ambient", "Psychedelic", and "Experimental", but on many of their records they do not stray too far from the Black Metal wheelhouse. This track is another entrancing piece of art that is minimalistic but has quite a pleasing atmosphere about it. The echoey, yet not too reverberant, continuous, ebbing and flowing sound is one that is perfect for my contemplation.

The vocals here are atypical of the genre, and are chant-like, at times, reminiscent of occultist rituals (which they seem to be overtly partakers of such rituals). They've put out two full-lengths, two splits, a demo and an EP prior to this and have shared a moderate following among the European scene.

do you really think their vocals are typical ? I think they are extra ordinary. somehow raw, yes, but way less throat oriented and indivdual then normal growls or screams, as you said, more like real chants.. I really start to l-o-v-e that band, must get at least ONE album of them. thanks for the share !
