@rahdeeze get yourself on ebay and invest in a cheap ultra sound machine, 1MHZ is for deep tissue therapy - 3MHZ for just below the skin. Do some research on it the best investment I ever made,I have bought 2 in last 7 years and well worth money, got mine for around £40 - £50. And if you play sports if you get a calf strain or hamstring etc you can use it on them as well. The calf plays a big part in the Achilles tight calf means susceptible to strains and snaps. :)

My cast comes off in 2 weeks, which makes a total of 6 weeks, i'm going into the 'Robo-Cop" boot after that and will start PT that same week. People are telling me that i should cancell my vegas trip in late July..i plan to go with the boot and no crutches.. what would you suggest?
Hi and thanks for the advice, I fully understand the caution you give.
It will be 2 years in April and I would expect to play football by then.. however, It will be with ultimate caution. Sorry to hear about your re-rupture, what happened?

Hi, congratulations on going into the boot.. that is a week before me..I wish I had been in it sooner.! It was when I had the cast removed and boot on that I felt liberated although It was scary and stiff for a few days.. Its all about confidence and the sooner you put pressure on it the better... as you can see from the video, I felt like superman in the boot..Be careful though, the first 6 months are most precarious and likely to produce a dreaded RR.. good luck, Vegas eh.. awesome!

I agree with you and I will pay private when remove plaster. How many weeks you went with a private physiotherapist?(and days)

From memory I believe it was about 6 times over a 12 week period. This was sufficient in the sense that the exercises I was told to do, i could do them from home as opposed to paying. So once you learn them there is no need to go - for at least six months!

I am also consrvative without surgery, but on other forums some people will be in plaster 10-12 weeks.

Conservative treatment will allow the tendon to heal naturally and although some medical studies claim this is a weaker alternative-I disagree. Yakubu, the Everton Footballer had surgery and was out for 8 months. I opted for conservative and am at the same strength as him! Stick with it and pay for private healthcare (it's not that expensive) The money is well worth it!
