ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN - Shine So Hard (Part 1) - Excuse the sound:-( - 1981 -- Does anybody has a better sound quality on this. I'm definite interested --- It's the best ever recording of the band in their best and earliest days of their carreer.

ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN - 1981-01-17 Shine So Hard (Pavillion Gardens, Buxton, Derbyshire)

The concert held at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton, Derbyshire on 17 January 1981 was recorded by the Manor Mobile. Four songs from the concert, "Crocodiles", "Zimbo", "All That Jazz" and "Over the Wall", were mixed at the Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales. The EP was released on 10 April 1981 and subsequently peaked at number 37 on the UK Singles Chart becoming the band's first hit single.

A limited edition of 500 32-minute videos were subsequently released in 1982 of the Buxton concert. These were available only to people who were present at the concert. This video is presented here, allthough please appologize the sound quality -- I hope to find this with a correct sound soon, to replace this failure video.

When the Crocodiles album was remastered and reissued in 2003, the four tracks from the EP were included as bonus tracks.
Anybody can upgrade the sound with video?

  • I get so depressed when I think how famous these guys should be. And aren't.

  • @ChadHesdon: At the Opera House

  • Back there again Sat 18 02 12

  • It was a fabulous all dayer and night....there were about a dozen peeps that loved the Echo's before they did this in Buxton.....hundreds turned up from all over the country to the Pavillion Gardens, totally hammered, macs down to the ground it was unbelievable....another Scouse Success Story Methinks ; )

  • @nmp290765 Yes but according to Ian McCulloch, they didn't want to be as big as U2.

  • Don't be depressed about their lack of top 40ness. If they got really famous guaranteed they would have started sucking as it is they have a large fan base of very loyal fans and they still rock

  • I was just looking at this again as we had a week in the Peak District last week and I wanted to go back to Buxton after 30 years .... Bored the wife silly of what a great gig it was ...:D

  • in a sane world these guys would have been bigger than u2

  • I was there and boy was it cold in buxton!!! Glad we found the bloody aircraft hangar afterwards!!!!

  • @nickdeaves you're so lucky, my god!

  • @mindlagoon I completely disagree. Fame would've meant money which would've meant everything post "Ocean Rain" would've as good, if not better, than that before it because they could afford to put everything into it. Plus, the lack of recognition must have been terrible. Fame and money would've enabled these guys to go to even higher heights, as opposed to higher hells.
