In this first of the series "Restoration Mysteries Brought to Light" we look at a very good method of polishing away years of nicotine, humidity and dust, and all the other crud that gathers on our equipment year over year. I use a national brand name automotive rubbing compound that is formulated to do exactly what we are attempting to do, remove all that crud. It is quick and easy, however it is time consuming and can be a dirty job, but when it is done, we have a shine you can't get using dish liquid, and it already has protection because the nature of the compound.

  • Great stuff man!

  • @Thegarmendia Thanks for the encouragement! It seems far too many people today want to tear down what I have done, but I know what I am doing, and if people are incompetent, they really should not be doing restoration work. I have one or two detractors that come by and make nasty comments about what I am teaching, but they are idiots, in my opinion, because they think you have to own $50,000 worth of equipment to build a $200 drum....

I recycle worn out stuff and make great drums for nothing.

  • Thanks for the demo and guidance. I'm about to embark on this journey w/ my new, vintage Star kit...which is the only reason I could afford a vintage kit!

Nice, subtle coaching towards the end Dad!

  • What a great presentation.... Bravo Little Man !!
