  • Forgot to ask, which model & length of Fiskars axe are you using in this video? thanks-

  • @YellowMetalDriver 28" handle, model#7854, 4.25lbs head....Fiskars have re-designed it this year and it is now called X25, head is slightly different, no biggie but I wont trade my 7854 for X25....try to get a 78854, they are on sale if available....see top one on this Google search "fiskars 7854"....22$

  • Thank you for the great idea of the bungee/tie around the logs... SO much better than wrestling a tire and such. I am getting back into splitting but have a herniated disc in L5 so I am considering retiring my 16LB splitting maul. Looking at your Fiskars that seems a lot lighter and does a very good job. Have you been happy with it? Has it retained its edge? Thanks-

  • @YellowMetalDriver the Fiskars super splitter is still the best you can get...I am super happy with it...btw it is called X25 at the store today

  • has your fiskars lost its grey coating around the blade ive hade mine 2 days and its mostly gone

  • @kalob35

Yes it has worned off almost 100%....but still splits ok....

  • The name of the music please or am I just blind?

  • Thank you for the info. I also appreciate the GREAT idea of the bungee. I used to (and still have) my 16lb maul but with back problems I am looking for a lighter alternative. Your use of the bungee is phenomenal and I placed my order for the new X27 last night. Thanks again for the post!

  • That Fiskars splitting maul looks like a quality tool. Something built that stoutly lets you quit worrying about breaking the handle on an overstrike. I gave up on maul splitting some years back though. My gas-powered hydraulic splitter is probably a little slower, but it's relentless. I can fill my big o' honkin' 8X12 truckbed in about four hours at a lazy pace. Great video!
