I started on clarinet then switched to bassoon this year. I'm pretty good, I'd love to try this. I just need to find more bassoonists.

Mike Norris Three Dances for bassoon trio. Published by Sirron Publishing (Glasgow). Mike wrote two suites of dances for bassoon trio. He was bassoonist in the Scottish Symphony Orchestra but retired and studied music / composition at Glasgow University. His music for bassoon trio is fantastic - funny, brilliantly written and very accessible. Available in the UK through June Emerson Music.

Nice! Way to dissuade somebody from persuing something on the grounds that it would be technically challenging. In fact, I don't think you went far enough, there. You should have told him to just stop trying to do anything altogether, as it creates the potential for failure and the feeling that you'll never be as good as somebody else.
