  • I didnt watch it all, did anyone ever sever or disconnect the battery cables? That was all that was needed to keep the fire from restarting.

  • @Toni7859 I don't think anyone did -- at least not while the vehicle was on site. The tow truck took it shortly after.

  • ... short would have been eliminated, then they could have simply sprayed some water in the passenger side window into the dash board... me thinks they just wanted to have some fun cracking up your windshield even more. lol. Sorry about the crash, its a bummer to have crash - hope you are OK and have since got a new car... this one looks like it was definitely a total loss.

  • @Toni7859 Thanks for your concern. Fortunately, I wasn't in the car at the time the wreck happened. Ten minutes later, I would've been. This car has been replaced with a black '03 VW Jetta -- nice. Since the car was apparently totalled, I didn't mind standing by and watching the fire department tear it up. It was actually quite entertaining. Dealing with insurance was the part I hated.

  • Did the P/U truck leave the scene of the accident?

  • @Crazcompart Witnesses say he was trying to, but my neighbors called for him to stop.

  • @rushike - well that is good you werent in there, or standing out there when he came by! Seems a lot of parked cars get hit these days, we are in the country and no one in our driveway, but my aunt lives in town and her car was hit before parked at the street. Yes, those Jettas are nice, my aunt I mentioned, her best friend has one that was her mothers car and it only has like 28K miles on it and its a 2003 model as well. ......

  • @rushike - I see. Well I am guessing what happened was when the a-pillar was crushed in, something electrical shorted out against another wire or something. Seems like the fire kinda went out on it on though, even before the fire department arrived, so the fuse controlling whatever was shorted must have blown. It was just strange to me why the fire fighters removed the windshield then started spraying water in the dash.... if the battery had of been disconnected, the power source to the...

  • yeah and too much time wasted... all that was needed was to disconnect the cables, spray some water inside the car (removing the windshield was unnecessary IMO) and all would have been fine.

  • some electrical wires must have shorted out....
