Eye Of The Tiger is a classic 80's song written in 1982 by Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik, performed by Survivor. It was specifically written for the movie Rocky III upon request of Sylvester Stallone. Stallone told the writers he wanted a good boxing song and he sure got what he asked for! There was a scene in the movie where the writers of the movie wanted to use Another One Bites The Dust by Queen, but they were unable to secure the rights for it which is one of the reasons Eye Of The Tiger was written. Survivor was a band formed in 1978 but did not achieve the greater heights of their popularity until the same year Eye Of The Tiger was released. They did a wonderful job performing it and the song ended up being a bigger hit than they imagined.
