This is longer than I like to make videos, so it is a potential waste of time, so don't watch it if you have any sort of misgivings. It's just me rambling a bit and acting stupid near the end. And I'm not trying to do some sort of reverse psychology on you or anything.

I'd rather supply my own 5 gallon bucket rather than pay $4-$5 for their 4 gallon bucket that premixed comes in. I had no clue people would be so passionate about this little project of mine. I'm gonna to have to think of something that will really piss everybody off. haha Thanks for your comments...

  • HEY you should have used Durock or at least applied a membrane to the wall around the tub the membrane commonly used is a Ditra made by schlutter Kerdi and you can get it from HD. If you wanted your mud in a bucket why didn't you buy the premix in a bucket? But seriously I applaud your efforts to dig in and just do it! Not many have the nerve to attempt it so GOOD job and if you are happy with it that is what counts!

  • I did put up Hardibacker b4 I put up the tile later on. I used 1/4 inch, normally for floors, in order to minimize the amt of bulk added to the wall b/c there was sheetrock behind it. Thanks for the info on the Ditra @ HD, I've always wanted to use that. The premix in the bucket is between 10 and $11 as opposed to just getting the mud that comes premixed in a box for a little over $6.

  • dude your suposed to use a 20' pan and a big texture knife when you do plaster style. not a 6' and a plaster trial knife. i woulda textured that in about 30 min! how long it take you?

  • I don't have a 20 in.pan and I don't feel like getting on ebay to find one. And what do you mean by 'big texture knife?' Like one of those offset 'knock down' knives. Textures seem to vary by what part of the country you're in. But yeah, I was just doing it, just kinda farting around. You seem to imply that there is a 'plaster style,' which makes sense. I mean you can't really mess up something called 'plaster style' if you're not getting check cracking.

  • Dude! You don't have a clue.

I hate to be mean, but you don't!

    Ever heard of skip trowel?

  • I've heard of it, but never seen it done or anything. I could stand to know more about different textures. Most of my experience is on the finishing portion, and I've done enough brush slap ceilings than I care to admit. Is it pretty hard? I'm guessing you put a thin layer covering an area on first?

  • What a tract rat...nothing worse than a drywall man that slops drywall mud all over a tile floor. he's the mr rodgers of drywall work.

  • Good vid, very professional thanks

  • lol... how adorable he looks so cute. I can't wait to build my own house one day. : )

  • looks like you needed a bath anyhow!

  • dude smoke another bowl!

  • ahh... don't worry about it, I've been doing this for over 10 years, it looks fine for what it is, I can tell you're just a goof playin around. Honestly, I hope you're happy with the outcome!

  • I am trying to get up the nerve to texture walls in my bathroom where I took down wallpaper along w/quite a bit of sheetrock face paper. Looking around on the internet for help on how to apply a texture pattern has turned out to be the best method for procrastanating I have found. Your video is as good as any of the hundreds(seems like)of free ones available & congrats on getting that job done :-) Drywall school has good ones but must pay for texture vids. Geez what to do on these walls & how???
