it was an issue during ww2 as well. there is a video here on youtube called food and magic. it discusses how americans were just throwing away good food. everything had to be used. EVERYTHING! if the milk spoiled you made spoled milk candy. stinks when you cook it, but very tasty. if there was a bruise on fruit you still ate it. you didn't throw it away. this is the type of waste i believe he is talking about.

What the H is he talking about?? Industrialized countries THROW AWAY up to 40% of all produced foods! They could have shipped that amount to the needing countries, but that costs money, and the needing countries lack purchasing power... So, they'd rather dump massive amounts of good food on a landfill somewhere...
It's a sick world, and it's even crazier that these people seem to have no clue...
