Damien Rice - 9 crimes (Piano harmony cover)

Me singing and playing "9 crimes" by damien rice.
Alright, so there's a first time for everything and i have to tell ya i was pretty nervous while recording this vid..i was trying to get the notes right, the lyrics right, everything.
in my opinion, overall, a decent attempt :)

ok, several things that ended up different from the original hehe:
-my version is faster..oops :)
-i missed out a repetition of the chorus in between
-mine is clearly not a duet
-i did the harmonies wherever i could though
-the sound quality was actually much much worse..the fan was on while i was recording (my bad).. what you hear now is an amplified and reverbed version with lesser background white noise...extracted directly from the vid..nothing changed in the recording itself.. just made louder thats all..sorry its not as clear as i'd hoped..
(i know i apologize a lot when it comes to quality..but you know.. i am a bit obsessive about that :) so bear with it LOL)

I know the piano's a new addition here..oops keyboard..hehe..i've been trying to teach myself for a bit..on and off..whenever there's time..it probably shows that i'm not completely versed with hand movement/position rules and stuff while playing..im finally getting the hang of playing with both hands though..especially when they have to play independent unsynchronized notes hehe..whenever it gets too frustrating i just play some one handed tunes by ear instead hehehe..i know i can pick up the skill.. just taking my time with it..

Anyway as you can see, i was busy trying to get the notes right and therefore kind of lost out on the eye contact element..but well..hehe ..i was mostly doing this because for once i could play the accompanying bit on my own and manage the singing simultaneously.. basically put together a whole package deal for all of you :D

p.s. uploads will be less frequent all through october..i've got some studying to do (sheesh) :D

Oh yes, my take on the song itself :)
Well, i'm quite a damien rice fan..i love that he's rather free style with many of his songs..has a unique style of singing..and lisa perfectly complements his voice whenever she features. The music video for the original song is actually quite strange and unsettling, and well makes sense in a rather gloomy way.. but they build the momentum and volume, as the song progresses, really well - the solo..then adding the duet..and then adding the violin and some effects..very nicely done..reaches a climactic point of sorts and ends with the piano solo..just as it started..now that's a pretty neat arrangement.

yes i'm already working with audacity..like i said, a work in a progress..with less time at hand, i tend to resort to shortcuts :) also with my built in 5.1 dolby speakers, output tends to sound different (better) than regular stereo which is what i'm guessing most people have as their output.. but i'm figuring it out..in good time, quality shall improve :)

and to be a pro, get a gud mic, also try learning the software "fruity loops studio" to be a mughul of sound recordin n mixin, wit this software you cud directly connect instruments like ur organ /piano to ur computer, .
