Which VanZandt pickups were used - rock or blues or vintage?

The Rock and Vintage Plus bridge models have a hot tight, squeezed sort of tone. It's beautiful and gives high end from heaven especially when overdriven. I've not tried the True Vintage pickups. If I get another strat at any time, I'd be hard pushed not to opt for another set of VZ's . Although the Bare Knuckle Mother's Milk (a gift from a friend) and my trusty old Fender US RI pickup are great in combo with the Vintage Plus in that particular guitar.

Also, I have a Warmoth alder body strat with one-piece Feline guitars (Croydon UK) "58" style neck which has a VZ Vintage Plus in the Bridge. (Bare Knuckle Mother's Milk middle and 1996 Fender US '57/62 RI in the neck). Can't be sure which model I like best (since i can only compare the three types in Bridge models), but the Blues model is a bit bigger and "airier" whilst still having sizzle. The Rock and Vintage Plus to my ear sound quite similar tonally, albeit with very different output

They area full set of 1999 VZ Blues, the output jack let me down a little on this occasion (never mind having to play through a JCM900 at about 3 on the volume dial) so they sound better than this usually. That pickguard is now on an Stew-Mac ash body strat with a chunky Pete Griffin neck (made here in Northern Ireland).
The red strat now has a set of custom order VZ's with RW/RP middle Blues, Blues neck and Rock Bridge.
