  • his melodies here are angular and minimal.. but continually morphing along the way with deft twang jazz.. don't underestimate the guy and you'll open yourself up to his truly intriguing world of music

  • I'm not the most familiar with jazz or the works of mr frisell for i am infact mainly a fan of alternative music but i must say i was nicely surprised to find bills work remaniscent of alot of alternative music and post rock... its nice to hear another aspect of those sounds especially from someone so well versed... :) good vid

  • brilliant

  • @crantonphos Listen to Naked City's 'Radio' if you want an easy starter!

  • @iwanttowatchsomethin Nefertiti was released in '68 and you can hear a lot of that in this song. More importantly though I think Frisell is trying to capture the spirit of the era - student movements and social uprisings around the world, the DNC in Chicago, the heyday of the counterculture. '68 was a pretty hip year.

  • μεγάλος τζαζίστας!

  • Shows Bill has a great ear and compliments the band wonderfully. Love his hamonics, he knows them well. It's nice to see somebody who can listen and compliment rather than be the show off flash player! I hear he even likes the MIM Teles alot. I am not the biggest Jazz person but this is refeshing.

  • So, so cool. The horn section gets props particuarly for NOT sounding like a blasting horn section. The harmonies and textures are amazing.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Very nice interplay among the musicians.I really enjoy Tony Scherrs Upright Bass lines. Thanks!

  • ...and would it be the inspiration for this number? I think so, this is just great!

  • Well, this does sound a bit like In A Silent Way...
