i nearly stepped on one in the park today. it was right next to a cat who was just checking it out. I was about a foot away..he just turned and left, but flared his hood once so i knew what he was...holy cow

That must be the Singapore police. I see their snake catching technique has been refined and they are quite good at it. If you search youtube for "Naja sumatrana" you will find another video of the same species that i took near Sembawang hotspring.
