"Everybody Be Dancin" was the first single release from Starbuck's album,"Rock N Roll Rocket" on Private Stock Records in 1977.
Starbuck also performed "Everybody Be Dancin" on several TV shows like...The Mike douglas show,,Don Kirshner's Rock Concert,,Dinah Shore etc.....
Starbuck was one of the most popular bands in the Atlanta Georgia & South East areas from 1974 thru 1978 along with fellow Georgia bands, "Whiteface & Atlanta Rhythm Section".
Starbuck released 3 albums between 1976 & 1978 & at least 9 singles. Starbuck changed band members on every album & the line-up for the "Rock N Roll Rocket" album was ::::
Bruce Blackman...Vocals,,Keyboards.
Jimmy Cobb...Vocals,,Bass Guitar.
David Shaver...Keyboards.
the late Darryl Kutz...Vocals,,Guitar...RIP
Sloan Hayes...Keyboards
Bo Wagner...Percussion,,Vibes,,Marimba.
Ken Crysler...Drums.
The "Rock N Roll Rocket" album is filled with a strong Keyboard / Synth. & Jazz groove that was being made popular by such bands like Steely Dan & Sea Level of the day.
You have to remember that Starbuck was ahead of their time by utilizing a 3 man Keyboard sound that was later made popular in the 1980's by Synth pop bands like.....Depeche Mode,,Human League & Yazoo.....
I was very lucky to see Starbuck on their "Rock N Roll Rocket" tour at Walt Disney World in Orlando Fla., in 1977.

The distinctive hit single, "Moonlight Feels Right" established the Atlanta multi - instrumental septet. Starbuck is far more than just another commercial Southern Rock band and this shows up in passages of creative originality throughout the album.
Writer & lead singer Bruce Blackman is able to come up with a string of soaring melodies that convey romantic images which often inspire the group lush depths of sounds.

Best cuts:::: "Everybody Be Dancin",,"Little Bird",,"Sunset Eyes",,"Call Me"....

  • @Milesco hey i can hear the douncin today, weird. i located Bo Wagner the marimba player who's now a very successful Dr. in LA, he played the solo on this in ONE TAKE, had never played the piece before it was all done in studio, the other members got to work on their parts repeatedly as is the norm in recordings but Bo nailed it in one take!!

  • @Milesco well i only hav one good ear and it's pretty good but maybe i was listening with the bad one? :-) wait a minute how would u say douncin? i read down- sin, correct? or do u mean dou as in doughnut? we'd better ask some southern experts, if i win you pay for my round trip ticket from tokyo to find these old guys and we party with 'em, if i lose i'll send you some sushi, agreed?

  • @cliffworks4321 I stand by my original assessment! :-D

  • @Milesco his pronunciation of dancing sounds more like dianne-sin to me:-)

  • the synth lick si,do,si,so is very similar to the one is moonlight feels right

  • chorus sounds a bit like 'dancing in the moonlight.' still, this band had an interestingly unique sound.

  • There needs to be more xylophone in music!

  • I haven't heard this song in 34 years, yet the chorus sounds EXACTLY how I remember it!

I love the way he pronounces it "Everybody be douncin' "!

  • thanks for posting this...one of the things I like about Youtube is that we can hear songs we liked from the 70s that the so-called oldies stations ignore!

    You Rock!

  • hey wats up
