The CD that this song was released on was one of the best music CDs of any group. Every song on there, except for one, was just an awesome song. I don't know why Tom Cochrane did not have a bigger fan base. A friend of mind said it had to do with his looks. Hollywood sells attractive singers, and the more attractive they are, the better they sell even if they have no talent at all -- Which explains Britney Spears.

Agree that this CD was a great one. Tom certainly has appeal -- the voice, the talent -- he's sexy, gritty and real. I suspect Tom is all about his music and writing rather than smooching the PR trail. I love this song and 'Big League'.

Back for my weekly fix (since I moved and still need to unpack six years later); but, you know, the S&G arg works since "The Boxer" refs "ragged people." DameLucky rests her case. Right around the great keyboards and that soaring resignation ablaze with you know . . . so whatever :). Would love to write a bio on this guy. No comparison wih anyone, really. He's Canada's version of Tom Cochrane.

Thanks, BTW, JANKid, for uploading this beaut. IMO, "SLAS" comprises a tribute to S&G, primarily because "boxer," "rock,' etc. proliferate. Still, do wholly and fully believe this simply provides another layer of scaffolding enabling yours truly to assert "Sinking Like A Sunset" may well rank among the top-ten rock tunes ever penned. The fact TC composed, arranged, and something-special delivered it? Bonus gloriosus :). The grand tradition, the wondrous rendition, the heart-whacking works.

p.s. Oh, right: That guitar solo prior to the ledge-walk verse? Ripping. Love the piano, too. One of the finest popular songs even penned, period

Near Leonard Cohen brilliance in lyrics above & beyond the call of beauty, devastating lines about truth written on the streets of survival & a boxer hanging up his gloves.
Cochrane wouldn't bend over & show them the bull's eye. The year he cleaned Cryin' Adams's clock, I had the delicious fortune of being in the Juno Green Room. What an incredible talent. His melodies & voice prolly top Cohen's; but, in the arrangement department ? A draw? May we always remember that "Victory Day." J.F./ox

I have seen him in concert now 4 times ( I went to see him this weekend actually because he was playing with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra) and he is amazing every time I have gone and I even had the pleasure of meeting him and he is one fine man for sure, he is kind and has a heart of gold and of course one hell of a songwriter

I'm not sure, exactly. Tom Cochrane's only major solo hit was Life is a Highway. This, and Get Back Up, I personally am surprised never made it.
