Lyrics:
Only angels have wings girl
And poets have all the words
The earth belongs to the two of us
And the sky belongs to the birds
You've given me so much happiness
That I'll wrap up and give you this song
You gotta grab it with both hands
You gotta keep hanging on...

The cat walks to the window
And I hear the key turn in the door
No one knows and anything goes
And everything falls on the floor
The apartment starts shaking
And the roof opens up to the sun
The crows flying in parallel lines
And golly isn't this great fun?

Laying in each other's arms
We're sleepy, we begin to nod
And we start to dream of grandiose things
Oh, God, oh, God, oh, God
You gotta keep hanging on

  • I'm listening to this song as my 77yo dad is dying of cancer.

I'm 42yo. Man. I loved Husker Du and the Minutemen Black Flag, Bad Brains, Agent Orange, Miinor Threat so much back in high school. While the rest were into Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. I identified with this music.

. This is a Grant Hart (drummer) song. I always loved his stuff but as a guitarist, I also admire Bob Mould (guitarist) wrote the most stuff Green Eyes is another really cool song.

  • @MrGoatEyes I don't want to be rude but what was the sense in writing that your father's dying? Sounds like you just want attention and thumbs ups.

  • This is my favourite Husker Du song!

  • @REIworker I'm sorry about your Dad.

  • @MrGoatEyes Me too, but I started listening at 18 back in 1987. I know what you mean,

  • I loved this song; it was so yearning and romantic. I had no idea what the words were for years, as I got "Flip your wig" as a second generation tape. Something about Amy and a door? it didn't matter.

Thank you Husker Du. I've paid for your music since.

  • @MrGoatEyes Is your dad ok man?

  • This album "Flip Your Wig" is the Husker Du equivalent to "Blows Against the Empire" but Jefferson Starship (formerly Jefferson Airplane). .
