A walk around look of my personal collection of vintage automatic washing machines.

(I neglected to include the 71 GE (Hitachi) portable washer and the Maytag 808, 9900 and Kitchenaid dryers in the "credits".)

  • ~ Twilightfirefly: Yes that is a Lady Kenmore dryer actually. And no, the stuff they sell today is NOT built to last.

  • ~ grandcarriage1: the TURQUOISE washer and dryer are 1963 Kenmore 70 series models.

  • How many washers and dryers did you have running there?

  • @tvtimetravel Watch the video again and count them! LOL Actually there are 15 (yes, fifteen) machines washing at once!

  • I would love to have that laundrymat. Were all those washer hooked up, or did you fill some of them up with a garden hose?

  • @amyisindallas I had the (eleven) in the middle all connected to a cold water supply and a drain. Thanks!

  • @revvinkev Mea Culpa... I stand corrected TURQUOISE. Thank you for answering a huge puzzlement. That's the dryer I grew up with: what mom had, but in brown.

  • I love it! The dryer shown at 1:40, its a Kenmore, right? My mother used to have that dryer, and my grandparents before her. It worked from the day it was new until 2003 when we replaced it with my grandparents other machine, another Kenmore from the early 80's. That thing was an unstoppable workhorse. We bought a new Kenmore Elite pair 2 years ago and I'm already about to scrap the washer. I guess they just don't build things like they used to, do they?

You have a very cool collection. Kudos!

  • What are the blue washer and dryer at 0.22. My Mom had that dryer. I remember staring at the glowing dials in the darkness of the basement as a we child: It scared the piss out of me, for some reason. It also lasted forever, considering the laundry it did for a family of 6, including 3 very active boys...I think she got rid of it in 95?

  • All the many ways you can wash your clothes=0)

  • nice vintage laundromat :)

  • compliments: really fantastic :-)

  • Amazing collection!!! I would love to spend all day there... Great Job!!!

  • The 1950 Westinghouse that requires bolting down at 0:35 is quite a find, with its most unusual design!
