  • It's great to see this - not enough coaches teach their gymnast's how to fall safely! I see so many gymnasts falling with their arms held out in front of them - makes me cringe every time - Even when they've been taught they do forget though!

  • This is good, but what about falling off an apparatus or something like bailing out of a salto? I've had a gymnast peel off the bar. Any drills for things like that?

  • Hidy Acro! Thank you so much for the comment and question. There are things you can teach that will lower the incidence of injury for various apparatus events. One of the drills I do with my boys on p-bars, for example, is teaching them how to roll out of a handstand to their shoulders if they lose their balance in handstand.

Other than teaching the kids strong regrasp drills to avoid peeling altogether, however, I am not aware of any drills to teach them how to safely peel.

  • We don't think so!!! She looks like a coach :)

  • Yeah this definitely seems like a helpful thing to learn :)
