Now available in 'Bit Better Quality' here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1gNv6TfH1U

A little bit of the past from 1988 to 1990.

Jammie Git - Vocals
Ben E Git - Bass
Matt 'Guitar' Git - Guitar (remarkably)
Chris 'Never had a nickname' Git - Guitar
Jason 'Little' Git (the token short person) - Vocals
Glen Sisela - Drums
Dave Evans - Guitar & Tapes

With the following historical landmarks in order of appearance:

MBN's Love Shack, Horsham (Collyers College Drama Hut).

Radio Sussex Studios, Marlborough Place, Brighton (For the marvellous Sunday evening show 'Turn It Up').

Collyers Duckering Hall. (Where we had to insist on going on first so the bass player could get to a Civil War re-enactment in time. Perhaps we weren't quite committed enough for a successful career in music).

The Richmond, Brighton (now The Pressure Point).

Champagnes Nightclub, Horsham - Tuesday night was music night (under where now stands B52s for any locals who stray this way).

Horsham Park Sports Centre as was.

To give an idea of the scale of the music scene in Sussex of that era we came third in the local Radio poll for the best band of the region after the mighty Pop Guns and 14 Iced Bears. I knew you'd be impressed.

(Not to be confused with the ill fated Americans of the same name and era).

  • Nice name. There's a few of them already - but you probably won't last too long anayway. And... try to sound a bit less like the Fall.

    Have a good life

  • At last, someone with the good taste to recognize the Fall influence. Indeed we didn't last too long, 1988-1990, but at that point I think we were the only 'Gits' in the UK. The better known Americans didn't make it over here until we packed it in and in the days before the internet there was little chance of finding out about an obscure US band unless John Peel happened to play a track.

  • Hey Man, I was pumped up after talking to a polish the Gits. A not very SHARP skinhead band and I made the mistake to discussion with them. I listened to your tune and projected my anger on you. Talking about being subjective... Sorry for that, I`ll eat my words. I am a very big Fall fan and like a lot of bands (obscure ones as well)from this periode.

You were right, except for John Peel there were not too many ways to present yourself. Have a good one.

  • Hello. I didn't take what you said badly and I rather rudely didn't consider the Polish 'Gits' when replying.

I'm just happy that anyone would take the time to listen to us.

    Farewell

  • @snooze06 No worries. I didn't know that's where the American Gits got their name from. Ours came from our guitar player running over a worm with a Tonka Toy lorry so our bass player called him a git. We were influenced by Monty Python though, particularly some of our sillier songs.

  • @snooze06 Thank you for taking the time to listen. You'll be pleased to know we're not planning to reform! No one's ever compared us to the Sex Pistols before, abet in an uncomplimentary way, so I wondered what tracks of theirs you were thinking of? I was more of a Damned man myself

  • Hello, I want to know where i can download your discography.

    Thank you!

  • A pound well spent?

  • I've got a cassette in my garage, "A Golden Hour of The Gits."

And I taped that Turn It Up interview off the radio too, probably still got it in the same box of tapes.
