This is a lot closer to a home movie than a true rail fan segment but still, I think you will enjoy the way this progresses. Harken back to the days of 1997 and take a drive down 16th Street in Council Bluffs Iowa. Catch the tail end of a coal train and at the next grade crossing get caught by a IAIS locomotive. When it turns out the restaurant is closed, turn into the UP yard and catch some old passenger rolling stock at Fox Park. Sometimes it pays to keep the camera rolling......

  • Clark is gone but not forgotten. It is on a list of hazmat/brownfields, and waiting on money for clean-up. I remember the orginal El Patio on 16th Street by the creek. I always thought they had great tacos. I suspect the move/expansion killed it. Tried to grab too much. Too bad about the building. 14th Avenue used to be a very busy street with all the different rail employees working in the yard. Now, I'm not so sure there is enough traffic to support a restaurant or bar.

  • I used to live on 16th St. by those busy tracks for 30 years...thanks for a nice vision from the past! My old stomping grounds..

Clark ready-mix is gone these days, and the El Patio cafe is in vacant and poor condition, it will probably be razed soon, among many other things I remember about that area..
