Paul Ligouri (Wantagh-8) d. T.J. Popolizio (Shenendehowa-2) 11-4. The soph now has two consecutive undefeated state championship seasons with a record of 86-0 over the last two seasons.
they didnt and they wouldnt i dont go to wantagh but wen a program is #1 in the state am sure the athletic director wouldnt allow it even if the budget didnt pass
Coach Murphy has done an incredible job of turning Wantagh's wrestling program into one of the most respected in the state. Paul is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated and respected wrestlers. Despite only taking third this year, I'm sure by the time he graduates many will fear his name across the nation... if not so already. Congrats to Bonanno and Gresh as well, you guys worked your asses off for it.
It was a sad day for wantagh yesterday, when Paul Ligouri lost int he first round fo the state tourney. Going into the match he had not lost a high school match, as his last loss came in the section finals as an 8th grader. going into the match he had won something like 115 matches in a row. he wud eventually wrestleback for third. Best of luck to you next year Paul, you should capture your third state tital
