This is a closeup of a Bucyrus-erie No. 12 bit dressing machine forging a 5" cable tool bit. You can see the steel being spread as the slag falls off. It's spread to gauge, shaped, then tempered. Filmed on July 4th, 2009.

  • That's incredible.

  • That is one neat machine! Can you dress other style bits with it? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this bit is called a mother hubbard? I drilled My gas well using a 6 and 5/8's star bit. Then I finished the last 60' with this style bit inside the 800' string of five and a half inch. Great Video's by the way! I really enjoy them! You Guys have a high class operation going! Love to hang out with you guys for a day. Steve
