Hi,
We were doing what's called a "pluck test" where we pull and release the tree to get it to sway back and forth. We can measure how fast it sways and how long it takes to stop swaying to determine dynamic properties of the tree. Those are really helpful to figure out how the tree will sway in the wind and whether it will be at risk of failure.
