The battle of the DVD formats is over...Blu-Ray won. But does that mean it's time to rush out and buy one? Not so fast. What's ahead for Blu-Ray: that's coming up on Money Talks.

  • please help! i just bought a 37" sharp aquos LCD tv but the picture is not as clear as while it's still displayed in the store. i am just using an ordinary standard definition dvd. should i get myself a high definition dvd player? or blu ray player? if i get blu ray, can i still play my standard definition dvd discs on blu ray? will it give me crystal clear picture?

  • A blu ray player will let you watch blu ray discs (high definition video... probably the crystal clear stuff from the store) and regular dvds (but those wont really look any better than with a regular dvd player). So... if you buy/rent blu-ray discs and watch them on a blu-ray player, you'll get a high definition image. Before you buy one, check 'em out online (cnet is a good place), and make sure you're getting the right cables to connect to your tv.

  • dont buy a blu-ray player when you can get a ps3 cheaper WITH blu-ray and games and all that

  • buy a ps3. dont buy a blu-ray player. ps3 has the best playback for blu-ray and it can update itself. for the money you get a good deal too.
