Tuning a Snowboard: Part II - Base Prep and Repair

Once you are done with your edges, move on to the base. Preparing the base for hot waxing involves inspecting for gouges (and repairing with P-Tex) and cleaning the base to ensure you will get a nice bond with the wax.
If a gouge is deep enough it, water can get inbetween the layers of your board causing an "early death," not to mention scrubbing you of valuable speed!
*HINT - when P-Texing...you may need to go over a "core shot" a few times depending on the depth of the gouge. If its really bad, bring it to your local shop for a fix.

@Coco...The base consists of more than just wax. You are venturing into territory that you may not want to be going. Just my two cents.

You need to scrape the ptex after it cools so its flush with the base. If done perfectly, the "scar" that remains should hardly noticeable.

IDEALLY...ptex it to fill it once and for all. Wax alone will eventually be "swept" away from all the friction.

i customized the top of my board and i want to do the bottom but idk how to take the wax off without hella damaging the board can u help me out?
