Shekon! heck thats ace. I just got some whitecorn seeds from an elder last week. I'm definitely gonna plant them this spring. Any advice on the best soil, location, time to plant, picking the right seeds, or our traditional teachings i should know before i get into it? Also do you lye your corn the ol' timer way in a wood stove? I already have my indian tobacco seeds waiting to sprout. After the harvast we can do some trading. Nia:wen

@bomberry1117 The best soil for corn is well drained soil with plenty of sun. The best time to plant is when the soil warms up usually mid may but I try plant by the new moon. I use wood ashes to lye the corn. Ask any of the old timers on how to plant corn in your area, dont forget to go to planting ceromonies to give thanks . Good luck planting

When freshly picked the husks are pliable if you noticed I just wet them to rehydrate so I could make the video also I remove all but three or four strands of husk which helps reduce the bulk while braiding and makes a more uniform braid.

Thanks for teaching me something new today . So this method is good for storing corn to dry easier ?

@TatankaOhitika1 Yes this is how we store the corn and dry it . Any cobs that the husk comes off or is to small we shell and eat first, the braids of corn are hung on the rafters and will keep for years as long as no rodents or birds are allowed to get at it.
