Restoration Video No. 2: Removing Permanent Marker from Sega Genesis Clamshells

This is the second update on Pickup Video No. 3. The Sega Genesis clamshell boxes (as well as most other items) came priced with a black, permanent marker. This video tutorial demonstrates the use of two different solvents to safely, and successfully, remove the ink from the clear plastic cover in order to restore the items back to mint condition.

  • Where did you get the idea of using scratch out? That's pretty smart. I'll have to try that one. Cologne gives me a headache.

  • @intervene1284 I got it from Medaka350. He's been doing this for much longer than I have. I think he may have gotten it from Lukemorse1. Who's been doing it for even longer.

  • Just subscribed love the passion you have for CIB collection. Also never even thought of taking out the insert before removing marker off the plastic case. Would have sucked if I had screwed some of my more expensive games. So thanks again because in the future I will remove the insert which takes away any chance for damage.

  • @cowboyscowboys Thank you. =)

  • Nail polish remover burned one of my 64 games.

  • It does that. Lol. That's why I don't really recommend it for long intervals. It actually burned one of my PS1s. lol. The good thing about these solvents is to find the right concentration for the right job. I do enjoy working with acetyl aldehyde best, but it has to be done fast. If the job requires more scrubbing, then I'd always go for something else. The scratch-out agent actually scratches surfaces too, lol. It takes some getting used to. =)

  • If you're looking for more Sega Genesis games hit me up. I may can hook you up with new ones. I don't play them anymore.

  • Sega had the best game cases :)

  • So basically what your saying is that you didnt remove the marker properlly with scratch out the first time because your dumb. Also why don't you just buy new cases whic h havent been marked and swap the paper insleeve.

  • WOW, thanx, I REALLY enjoy your videos. They are very entertaining, although I thought the video about removing stickers was a little silly.
