@neogeon they are "securing the backup". In this case, the backup is the LOCKED rotary table. Also, it didnt" blow out". The driller left the pump kicked in as asked by the camera crew. The show is fucking retarded and scripted tho.

it doesnt mean there doing wrong bcoz they didnt use tong. its just its dangerous but effective almost 60% of time the pull out and put in another drill pipe just using chain rather than using tong .... its just there not doing the safety measure .. but if you see this full movie 3 oil digger are competing who will reach 30K feet first
