I think that what he is talking about is what we used to call 'slow dances'. They were easy to perform. You would embrace the girl and move around-- nothing fancy. I knew guys who couldn't dance a bit but they could dance the slow dance and meet girls. Usually this was some kind of ballad or waltz. This might be before your time but this is how we really got to know the girl-- small talk during the slow dance. It was an opportunity to highlight your personality. Or, lack of one. hehe
