@Cyrius01 The richest man in the world, Carlos Slim, is from Mexico. The money made from this would not go to the Mexican people, as the industry would be privatized. Also, drug trafficking is not the only problem: government corruption, (see presidential fraud of 2006), money laundering, and social inequality and injustice. I lived in Mexico for 15 years, and drugs are not the only problem Mexico faces...

Like the Netherlands, when they legalize it, locals don't necessarily have to use more drugs, they just create a booming, clean, non-violent, happy and entertainment-driven tourism/holiday industry. So the money – legal money - will go to the mexican people, not to the cartels and DEA. Ditto with Columbia. A beautiful country that could have a massive tourism industry based around legal cocaine, weed, ecstasy and coca. No more violence, just business

The U.S produces its own Marijuana. Cocaine -only grows in the high altitude of the Andes of SouthAmerica, and most of it is smuggled to the U.S through Florida using Puerto Rico and Cuba as Jump-boards
