Very popular GM 2.2L Ecotec Engine Oil Change You will need the stubby 32mm socket for the plastic cap. Use all 5 quarts of oil--the Mobil 5000 is the only one that I could find meeting the GM6094M specification. I shopped a lot of different filters, but they were so poorly made, with glue, or pleats with horrible gaps, etc. I know the torque wrench is a purist approach--but the cap says 25 N-m, so why argue? Enjoy... Fluffy Lube and places like that--I just can't trust them. This is the easiest oil-change car I've ever owned. It was SOOO hot outside, hence the heavy breathing. Sorry about the view of the hairy leg--this was my first solo How To vid. I'm still learning.
PS--how come "sooome" people can post longer than 10 minutes, but my original was 10:54 and it got "rejected."

  • Simple and direct. Going to try it on my Chevy Cobalt which uses the same engine. Not like the other tutorial I watched where the guys changing the oil were complaining on how the car and the engine was junk.

  • @m3chan1zr Glad it was helpful. I get 37 MPG on my commute (mostly highway). I couldn't be more pleased with its economy. I highly recommend getting a model with ABS however. The standard brake/tire combination is dicey in the rain if you have to make a panic stop.

  • good vid! another way to reset oil life is put the key in the ignition to the run position with the car off and floor the gas pedal 3 times. it will also go back to 100%. once again, very good video for those wanting to do their own maintenance. im sure it will help a lot of people

  • @chaoticsorrow212 So much easier!!!! Thanks!

  • the oil filter on these cars is retarded, I have changed oil myself my whole life since I was 12 and when I bought this oil filter for my Ion the first time I thought it was a mistake, I had to look up how to install it. Thanks

  • Sure! Why we have to pay over 4 bux for it...not cool. It should be much cheaper than the PF47 metal can filter.

  • This is the same engine as the Saturn ion right?

  • very very nice

  • This helped me immensely. A 32mm oil filter wrench? Who would have thought...

  • At 2:11 in the video it shows the car tire not all the way on top of the ramp. Very unsafe! Please make sure the tires are where they should be on top of the ramp so there isn't a chance of the car coming down.

  • For a list of approved oil brands meeting GM6094M spec. just search for "GM6094M" you will get a GM link as a PDF.

  • great vid!thanks for posting!

  • good vid. thanks man.

  • very good video, helped alot on my 2009 chevy cobalt. same ecotec engine.
