Youngstown

A video set to a live version of Bruce Springsteen's song "Youngstown." I am originally from that area, the next town over, Warren. My entire family grew up and went through most of what goes on in the song.

It wasn't unions which caused the demise of American steelmaking. It was the American nearsightedness, protectionism, refusal to innovate, to specialize and conservativity which caused it. Europeans and Japanese were in the business to make steel, Americans were in business to make money. In the long run it was more profitable to make steel than money.
