KDRV-TV in Oregon reports on the Pacific Forest Trust's (PFT) transfer of nearly 900 acres of Monument Planning Area lands to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for official inclusion in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument (CSNM). The acreage includes critical wetlands and wildlife habitat that expands the conservation buffer zone around BLM land containing old-growth forest stands. Now open to the public, the tracts include a section of the famed Pacific Crest Trail, the Monuments primary hiking experience.
The transaction was announced on January 15, 2009.
