On Sept. 11, 2011, Ohio Wesleyan commemorated the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people, including three OWU alumni. The commemoration included prayers, musical performances, and the planting of a cherry tree in remembrance of Doug Cherry '85, whose daughter, Emma, is a first-year OWU student. The commemoration concluded with a candlelight walk to the nearby Delaware Fire Station, where OWU participants presented breads from around the world to local firefighters to thank them for their service as first responders.
