A small video showing boot speed and average speed on Acer Aspire One. Linpus, was dropped, and Xubuntu 8.04.1 was installed. I followed instructions from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne

  • Soud works great, Hibernate also works flawless. Wifi and card reader power saving do not work at the time. Wifi Switch works for me.

  • pretty nice! does all hardware work out of the box on Xubuntu?

  • Almost, i had to compile the lastest wireless drivers from the madwifi snapshot, since the wireless driver is not included in Ubuntu Hardy, other than that, i've only made some tweaks.

  • terrible video but i get the point. next time use a standalone webcam to do it and put you light overheadim going to try this on mines. Thanks

  • Its called dock

  • It is a dock. The best is avant-window-navigator. You must be running compiz fusion to load this dock. Also there is the "kiba dock" and a dock in gdesklets (the last one doesnt requiere compiz fusion)

  • What's that mac like application launcher at the bottom? Can I install that using synaptic?

  • Slow, slow, slow.

  • does you netbook have the nonfunctional and partial functional items after installing xubuntu as in the ubuntu instruction site?

Not Functional: * Hibernate on A110L * Card Reader power saving * wifi power saving * wifi kill switch

Partial Function: * Audio - there is sound, issues detailed below

  • this is great! you should try and install kubuntu.

  • Are you able to install VLC and access shared folder on the network? Those are the problems I've had with Limpus, and I winder if Xubuntu might be the answer.
