It's more a mix. Here in The Netherlands, English programs are subtitled instead of synchronise with German like in Germany. So we take the speech of the, mostly, American accent/pronunciation. In schools we learn proper English. But i too make mistakes by writing flavour instead of flavor, colour or color etc.

'When i search for flight tickets I'll later get flight related ads'. I hear this quite dumb remark often. That's why internet services can be free! That's why I like nexus devices so much (no, Twan Huys, that's not an iPhone, it's something just as good for half the price), Google doesn't need to make profit on the devices. They want you to sign up for android, so they can target their ads better. And that way I get my nexus device (and Google services) partly subsidized by companies.
