MAXIUMUS Present: Algérie comme on ne la jamais vue avant

For the first time ever, a photographer was authorized to fly over all the regions of Algeria, offering completely original images of this huge and enigmatic country - the biggest in North Africa.
Because Algeria is not a tourist country, the beauty and power of its landscapes are not well known. They can now be seen in the latest book by photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, LAlgérie vue du ciel [Algeria from above]. It has met with enormous success both in Algeria and in France. The Repatriated French of Algeria and the Algerians of France have wept together before these images of the country they left behind. History can be read here in the open air: the omnipresence of the French period in the style of urban buildings, the confused development of recent years, bristling with satellite dishes, a breath of nostalgia beside the sea, while certain views of the mountains and desert are eternal, from the mountains of Kabylia to the Aurès range, from the majestic Sahara to Algiers the White and from the plain of Mitidja to Constantine perched on its rock, this work gives a whole new insight into this countrys rich history and people. Beyond the exceptional beauty of the photographs!


This long-awaited book is one of the most important in Yann Arthus Bertrands career: he wanted to play a part in reconciling two populations (frenchs & algerians) who have Algeria in their hearts.
