Will it delete existing files on the hard drive? I have a lot of files, and i'd really sad if I lost them all!

i need help, i got it working earlier, and then i ejected the drive and put it on my pc to move some stuff and now i can't get it to work and i've tried everything i can think of, restarting, ejecting, unmounting/mounting, starting over. nothing is working
