US police cars are already lit up almost like a christmas tree and still they get hit. Why doesn't that happen around here, where police cars just have light bars?
So lights don't seem to be the issue. The problem must be somewhere else.
@superdau Do you know how many officers are severely hurt or killed from being struck by vehicles? There's no such thing as too much lighting on an emergency vehicle. Police vehicles tend to be less visible in the daytime, and this is a positive way to combat that.
@nitruswolf actually no police are not citizens who are not any different from anyone else. They actually have less rights than a normal citizen does.
@superdau nope here in the us we have a basic cruiser with lights on top and then the headlights and taillights will flash when the top lights are on then we have like 3 different paint schemes depending on officers rank, in my town we have a truck with lights hidden not ontop so it has more clearance seeing as its a truck for hauling shit, we have an old little bunch buggy thing. the next town over has chevy impalas with lights ontop and some chargers with lights ontop and all of them strobe...
What happened to the good old, highly visible light bars? Most police cars I've seen here in Europe just have two blue lights on top. And you have to be blind to miss that simple thing.
Do you really need a lightshow on wheels? More lights just means there's more that can break, and I'm sure they are all custom parts. Is the police in the US just for looks?
