The Proposal by Amar Mehta

Soooo...the story begins with a party that was held for my parents visiting from Florida. Little did Nidhi know, that this going to be the night that will change our lives forever. During the entertainment portion of the night, after many other perfo...rmances, came my surprise performance for her. Starts out with Sid, Nakul and Nihar doing a dance and then about half way through, Arpit and I joined them. Nidhi's face was light up because she knows that I do not dance. She still didn't know what was going on. So, the time came for the last part of the dance, where the guys stood infront of me so that I was hidden. This was the start of the magical moment. Our song, from a bollywood movie Fanaa is Mere Haath Mein Tera Haath Ho (translation: When my hand is in yours...). This was the first dance we ever danced to in the 2006 Ajooba show at UMBC. From what she tells me, she was asking Neema, why is he doing this song right now? Neema said just go with it. So, I start slowly walkiing toward her and then took her onto the dance floor. She still has no clue what is going on. We both are nervous; She is because she doesn't understand why we were slow dancing at a party for my parents; I was nervous because I was about to propose. The time came, I gave her a last twirl and got down on one knee....AND the rest is history.
