With one album ar rahman got an image equivalent to illayaraja ..so many good songs came befor Roja especially from Illayaraja but arr roja changed the entire music before 1992.at the same time he opened the international market of Indian music..which was not done even the Great illayaraja(isaygnani)..Raja done his good job in his period., with our generation now rahman doing his best..only media created a Tom and Jerry story..neither rahman nor Raja.&their fans...now that story still continuing.With their Fans.Both are legends..both are great to their respective periods both gave good songs..but ar rahman some what delay bcos he likes to do experiment with instruments..My final conclusion Music is ur nature dont fight for it..ur music ur life!

see, raja is son of soil ,arr is genius no doubt .but people now a days know how to influence and arr supporters does good marketing where as raja is innocent does not know how to influence media.if slumdog millioner director used raja he could have got oscar or even who plays music in platform would got oscar .so it is not a award to feel arr as good. people who does not know music will compare arr and raja.these people will compare arr with someone after few years.oscar is simple

Why rahman >layaraja: Ilayaraja scored more than 800 movies but only 50% of his songs are good and classic. In year if he composes 14 movies only 6 will be good and other will be garbage but people will only talk about the 6 movie he scored. But for rahman 85% of his songs are hit. In a year if he composes 10 movies 8 of them will great and other will be below par compared to other 8 but still it will be better than other music released by other musicians that year,

I would say Ilayaraja’s Fans are the Luckiest people on this Earth. They get the blessings and guidance directly from Lord Shiva and his son Lord Muruga through Ilayaraja’s Music while AR Fans gets their misery directly from Demon Ravana through AR rahman. I would say what Ilayaraja composes comes straight from the creator himself. But AR rahman Music sounds like Funeral Music which comes from Hell (Ravana's Cave). When he sings he cry’s like a wolf.
